 I. The Burial of the Dead

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
[...]
What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water.

Uganda  Compassion Team /June 2013

Preston Trail Community Church

10501 Main Street, Frisco, TX 75035

Dear Family and Friends;

I am beyond excited to tell you that I will be joining a team from my church, Preston Trail Community Church, to Uganda in East Africa for a short term mission trip.  Our team will depart Dallas on June 17th, returning home on June 28, 2013, and in one capacity I will be using my gifts as a photographer to tell the stories of 1. the trip, 2. the people we meet in Uganda, and 3. the amazing love of God and the transforming power of Christ. I will also be helping to teach at a ministry conference on the topic of spiritual gifts. As you may know, I have traveled to developing nations before, specifically India, but I have never done anything like this before, so I am eager to see how Christ transforms and shapes my life through this experience, and I look forward to sharing the experience with you through my art and story.

During our first week, we will work with our partners from Food Step / Homecoming ministries, both run by an amazing Belgian couple (Nathalie & Werner) who live in Uganda fulltime. The Food Step ministry works with children living in a state-run rehabilitation center for youth near Kampiringisa, just outside Kampala the capital of Uganda.  Most of the children in this center are picked up off the streets because their parents either abandoned them or sent them out to beg for money.  The Homecoming is a relatively new ministry they launched to offer some of these children with little to no hope of getting out of the state run facility before turning 18, a home where they will receive a warm bed, three meals per day, healthcare, an education, and most importantly love and spiritual guidance from Nathalie & Werner. Currently, they have custody of 50+ children with hopes of adding 40-50 more this year.

The following week we will be working with another one our partners, Hesed International to train area pastors, their wives and lay leaders within their churches equipping them to better lead their churches.

While our team will make the actual journey, we do need help and there are a couple of ways you can get involved to support our mission. As we prepare and while we are gone, would you consider praying for us and for those we will meet?  You can also follow us on Facebook on the Uganda Ministry at Preston Trail page.

Each team member is required to raise financial support to cover airfare, meals, and accommodations. In order to make this trip possible I will need to raise an additional $3,200.  Would you prayerfully consider providing financial support to our team?  If you feel led to involved in supporting me financially, please make your check payable to Preston Trail Community Church and mail it to the address above.  Please reference “Uganda” in the memo section of your check.  All donations are tax deductible, and a receipt will be provided. You can also easily contribute online at http://tinyurl.com/chgegk8 This link will have you create an account with a secure user name and password, also allowing them to mail you a tax credit receipt.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and soon I look forward to sharing how God will change the lives of everyone involved with this trip, both here and there!

Blessed to bless,

Kiran Fernandes

Katie & Chris's Engagement Portriats

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Karime & The Plano East Prom Crew

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing the lovely Ms. Karime for her Junior prom last year, and was blessed to be asked back to cover her senior prom. She makes looking good look easy!

You were never lovelier,
You were never so fair,
Dreams were never lovelier,

Pardon me if I stare.

Down the sky the moonbeams fly to light your face;
I can only say they chose the proper place.
You were never lovelier,
And to coin a new phrase;
I was never luckier in my palmiest days.
Make a note, and you can quote me,
Honor bright,
You were never lovelier than you are tonight.

Meredith & Jared Family Portraits

March 12, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

A dear friend of mine from Preston Trail Community Church hired me to do some portraits of her and her son earlier this Spring, I love how they came out!

Although you see the world different than me
Sometimes I can touch upon the wonders that you see
All the new colors and pictures you've designed
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

You don't need direction, you know which way to go
And I don't want to hold you back, I just want to watch you grow
You're the one who taught me you don't have to look behind
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Nobody's gonna kill your dreams
Or tell you how to live your life
There'll always be people to make it hard for a while
But you'll change their heads when they see you smile

The times you were born in may not have been the best
But you can make the times to come better than the rest
I know you will be honest if you can't always be kind
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, child of mine,
Oh yes, sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine

Got to sneak Grandma in for a quick shot.

So, I do not fashion myself as a newborn or infant photographer. I applaud and admire those who do this work, but I don't consider this an area of my specialty; nonetheless, I do like to experiment and expand my abilities through practice of all sub-genres.  Insert, Little Hayden, who came in to NTPC courtesy of his lovely mom Nikki.

Part of Kiranphotography's guiding mission is to glorify God's by highlighting His blessings. Every good and perfect gift comes from God, and it was perfectly evident how Nikki treasure's this beautiful little one! Enjoy!

A New Year's Day Wedding - Art & Sophie

I'm gonna love you, like nobody's loved you
Come rain or come shine
High as a mountain, deep as a river
Come rain or come shine

I guess when you met me, it was just one of those things
But don't ever bet me, 'cause I'm gonna be true if you let me

You're gonna love me, like nobody's loved me
Come rain or come shine
Happy together, unhappy together
Won't that be fine?

Days may be cloudy or sunny, we're in or we're out of the money
I'm with you always, I'm with you rain or shine

Gonna love you, I'm gonna love you
I'm gonna love you, come rain or come shine
High as a mountain and deep as a river
Come rain or come shine
I'm gonna love you, I'm gonna love you
I'm gonna love you!

I guess when you met me, it was just one of those things
But don't ever bet me, 'cause I'm gonna be true
Gonna be true if you let me
Let me, let me
Let me, let me
Let me love you
Let me love you
Come rain or come shine

Happy together, unhappy together
Won't that be fine?
Days may be cloudy or sunny
We're in or we're out of the money

I'm with you baby, I'm with you baby

I'm with you always, come rain or shine!

Rupley Re-Wedding

November 20, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

I was so blessed to be able to share a part in Amanda and Derrick Rupley's wedding vow renewal ceremony (also interestingly a set for a bridal show). Though I didn't see anything crazy go down, aside from a quick wedding cake food fight, I did see plenty of warmth and love between these two and their two little ones.
