Work by Kiran Fernandes, a McKinney-based photographer, has been selected to be featured in Frisco City Hall. The Photo titled “Bhenat” (Offering) has been selected to grace the main entryway to City Hall and the Public Library for the coming year.
"The picture represents the rich tapestry of diversity that is characteristic of one of the fastest growing cities in the Nation," said Fernandes.
The photographic print on fine art canvas was described by the Arts board as "Visually exciting and inspiring.”
The image was created in March 2013 at a housewarming ceremony for the wedding of an Indian family in Plano, TX.
Fernandes, who owns KiranPhotography, specializes in weddings, portraits and special events.
This past year Fernandes retired from a full time position teaching at a public middle school to pursue a new career path as a full time photographer.
"I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to pursue what I feel truly called to do,” he said. “It has given me a renewed sense of purpose and I feel great to be able to express myself through my art.”
The work is sponsored by the Frisco Public Art Program, and will be on display at the George Purefoy Municipal Complex from November 2013 to August 2014.
